Aside from the fun of getting to dress up as just about anyone or anything, Halloween parties can be packed with great adult games to play throughout the evening. Many of the adult type games will require paper and pencils, so be sure to have a great stash of Halloween themed stationary and pencils to match.

Prizes for adult Halloween games don't have to be big - anything from a special candy bar to a vintage horror movie DVD can be a prize. Use your imagination and have fun planning not just the games, but the rewards as well. Here is a list of some fabulous adult Halloween games that you can plan for your next big Halloween bash:

Halloween Game Ideas for Adults

  • Favorite Horror Movie Quotes: This type of game will appeal to all horror movie buffs. Hand out paper and pencils when guests arrive and let them know they have a time limit (usually 1/2 hour works well) to name as many legitimate horror movie quotes as they can. When time is up, the person with the most quotes wins.

  • Halloween Treasure Hunt: Hide an assortment of Halloween items throughout the party area. Things like a hand, black widow spider, witches' broom, black cat, etc all work well. Blend things in with your already fabulous Halloween decor so they are not easy to spot. A hand could be hiding under the lid of a soup tureen, for example. Hand out the lists when guests arrive and see who can find all of the items the quickest.

  • How Many Worms In The Jar Game: For this adult Halloween game, make up a batch of slimy gelatin 'worms' for your Halloween table. Have slips of paper by the 'worm' bowl and ask guests to guess how many are in the jar before serving the food. The person with the closest guess wins. The recipe for these worms is easy:
    • Mix together 1- 6 oz grape gelatin, 3/4 oz unflavored gelatin, and 3 cups of boiling water until fully dissolved.

    • Allow gelatin to cool until slightly warm and then add 3/4 of a cup of whipping cream and a few drops of green food coloring, stirring until the mixture looks like the color of earthworms (purpley, brown, grayish color).

    • Pack 100 straws (the bendable ones work the best) fully extended into a tall container (an old milk carton works great) and pour your gelatin mixture into them; cover and cool in the fridge for at least 8 hours.

    • Cut away the milk container and run the straws, a few at a time, under hot water for just a few seconds to loosen the gelatin. Carefully squeeze the 'worms' out of their straw casings and set on wax paper to firm up (covered) for at least 2 hours in the fridge.


  • Halloween Party Theme: Put a theme to your adult Halloween party and have awards for the best costume, most original costume, etc. For such adult Halloween games, you can use fun themes such as 'Massacre at The Oscars', where your guests can dress up as their favorite 'dead' movie star.

  • Who Done It?: Make your Halloween party a murder mystery and have guests guess 'who done it?' A prize goes to the person who naps the 'killer' of this adult Halloween game first.
