Baby Shower Gift Wrap - Great Ideas for Wrapping those Presents

Wrapping presents is a great chance for you to express your creativity.

Wrapping a baby shower gift can be especially fun, since it is such an important time for the mother, especially if this is her first child and first shower. The mother may even save the wrapping as a keepsake.

First, when it comes to baby shower gift wrap, it's important to know that you don't just have to wrap in pink and blue. There's a world of color out there. Orange, lemon yellow, green, stripes, even bolder shades of red, fuchsia and purple can look great. You can get store bought wrapping papers in plain sheets of color or baby specific patterns. A great thing available now is cellophane wrap that has images and pictures printed on the outside.

Don't worry, however, if you don't want to spend the money buying an entire roll of baby shower wrapping paper for one present. Some stores sell it by the sheet. Or, you could re-purpose a neutral wrapping paper you already have around the house by adding a teddy bear to the outside or a baby shower friendly bow. (NOTE - this tip for baby shower gift wrap won't work for Christmas wrapping, unless there's a Christmas baby involved!)

Creative approaches to baby wrap include using tulle as a wrap. Keep the corners and edges in place with safety pins. Wrap the gift in a large cloth to represent a diaper. Or, wrap the gift in a baby blanket. Place a teddy on top, and hold it in place with a matching ribbon. The wrapping is not only a creative and attractive packaging for the gift - it is part of the gift as well as an eco-friendly wrap!

Other eco-friendly baby shower gift wraps include printing your own baby friendly pictures on baking paper or plain brown parcel wrap. Cut out baby and baby item pictures from magazines and glue them to the plain brown wrap. Finish it with a nice ribbon or bow.

You an also present your gift in a unique way. Fill a beach pail with baby powder and lotion. Or, fill a plastic baby bath with rubber duckies and soft towels and clothes. Forget the paper and simply tie a large ribbon around it. Talk about creative baby shower gift wrap!

At my baby shower, I got a lot of gifts in these made-for-purpose gift bags you can purchase at many retailers. These are great, can be re-used by the mother, and come in all shapes and sizes.

Baby specific ones can be so sweet! They often not only have pictures on them, but also little toys, confetti, and cards hanging off the handle.

Make sure you use tissue paper so the gift isn't visible the moment you pick up the bag! It makes it more exciting, keeps the mystery alive, and shows you made an effort. (One person once gave me the gift in my hand and separately handed me the gift bag - she couldn't even be bothered to place the item in the bag!)

In the end, when it comes to baby shower gift wrap, it really is the thought that counts. A simple and inexpensive gift, well presented in an artful and thoughtful manner, is a wonderful present to receive.
