Cheap Christmas Presents - Wonderful Yet Inexpensive Gift Ideas

When trying to find cheap Christmas presents, remember that parents and grandparents will appreciate anything hand made by their children or grandchildren.

We all have received strange and wonderful gifts from the little ones, and they are usually inexpensive to make. The difficult part is trying to keep the gift a secret!

I have twin granddaughters; one of whom cannot keep a secret for more than 30 seconds and one who would never divulge a secret unless threatened with the loss of her video games for ever!

In trying to keep the cost of Christmas presents at a reasonable level, it's always a good idea to begin early - as in starting your shopping on January 1st! There are dozens of bargains to be had in the after-Christmas sales that will be perfect for next year's gifts. It's probably not feasible to do all of your gift buying so early, so if you need to keep the cost of Christmas down to a reasonable level, you will have to plan ahead, make a list of gift recipients, start doing your research and stick to your budget!

One of the problems of buying cheap Christmas presents is that they are usually small Christmas presents, so you might have to buy two or three gifts or make up a small gift basket with them, such as a cosmetic bag with a set of brushes for makeup; a box of inexpensive wine glasses that you can buy to go with a set of 12 really cute charms with suction cups that stick onto wineglasses or juice glasses for the kids; give a portable ping-pong set that you can set up on any table or desk and add an extra box of ping-pong balls. You get the idea; just add a little extra touch and your cheap Christmas present will not look cheap!

There are also some really cool refrigerator magnets that will stick onto a stainless steel surface - who knew they'd even been invented? So, if you know someone who's been unable to post photos and children's artwork on their stainless steel fridge, these might be a great cheap Christmas present. They are available in three different patterns, so you can choose a set or two to match the recipient's kitchen and perhaps add a small notepad for a grocery list, as they will hold up to 25 sheets of paper.

A really beautiful boxed Christmas tree ornament makes a great cheap Christmas present, as does a pretty candle or a set of note cards. A box of fragrant soaps or seasonal towels for a guest bathroom; a silk plant, a nice piece of costume jewelry; all would be welcome gifts. A small rosemary tree is inexpensive and would make an unusual and useful gift for the cook on your Christmas list.

Also for the cook, I found some really neat gingerbread men cookie cutters that look as if they've already had bites taken out of them - you can decorate them with frosting to make them look sad, or put an icing 'bandage' on for them. Children will love them!

If you buy candles as cheap Christmas presents, why not include a mini refillable candle lighter in the package? They are quite inexpensive (and child-resistant) and come in several colors. One of these would make a great cheap Christmas gift on its own and would be a very useful gift as just about everyone has candles burning around the house over the holidays.

So, in your search for cheap Christmas presents, shop early, make a list and check it twice - and treat yourself to a spa day with all the money you've saved.
