A poem is a very romantic, yet cost effective, way of saying how much you love your partner.

If you draw, draw a picture of your partner using whatever media you work with. For either the poem or the drawing, you can get a nice, inexpensive frame at a dollar store in which to frame your creation.

Another cheap Valentines idea is to take a pack of balloons (red, pink or white) and place strips of paper inside with notes on why your partner is special to you. Blow them up (you can get a balloon pump for this or you can blow them up yourself), and tie them together with a piece of ribbon.

When you are with your partner, give him or her a pin and tell him / her to pop the balloons. Each popped balloon will reveal a special message just for him or her. If you are going to use this idea to also propose marriage, number the balloons so that they will be popped in a specific order - with the proposal being in the last balloon popped.

For the lady in your life, cook dinner for her instead of taking her out to eat. Give her a night off from cooking while preparing some of her favorite foods. Also, both of you can cook dinner together. This is a great way to spend time together without spending a great deal of money.

A cheap Valentines idea is to give him or her a coupon book that can be redeemed throughout the year. Using construction paper and markers, you can create a number of coupons for your significant other. This is a great cheap Valentines idea that can spread the spirit of Valentine's Day throughout the year.

One possibility is to create two to three coupons for each month, such as one extra night out to eat each month or one massage night per month. This way, you can still plan some outings without having to worry about the costs piling up all at once. Also, coupon books are a great way to give your significant other some of the things he or she wants throughout the year.

Valentine's Day doesn't have to bust your budget. You don't have to spend a great deal of money to say "I love you" to your partner. By using your creativity and focusing on the real meaning of Valentine's Day, you can have a wonderful time and still save money with these and other cheap Valentines ideas.
