If you're like approximately half of other newly engaged couples, you'll be having some kind of an engagement party, and you've got some planning to do. You'll consider food, decor, attire, theme, and many other things, but be sure not to overlook the aspect of FUN. Make sure you include some great engagement party games at your fiesta and it will surely be a hit.

Ideas for engagement party fun and games usually involve humor, marriage, and children. One good idea is to play the baby name game. In this game (which is also played at baby showers and wedding showers), you take the bride- and groom-to-be's first and middle names, and everyone makes as many names as they can by using only the letters in the names. Winners can be selected by the most original name or whoever has the most names, or the couple-of-honor can choose what name they liked the best.

An example would be if your bride's name was Elizabeth Jean and your groom's name was Thomas Paul, names that could be created from this include, Samuel Bill, Trina Jane, or any others. Funny, nonsense kind of names can be used as well, such as Zethani Lapej. This is just a fun engagement party game that gets many people involved, and wouldn't it be ironic if the couple ended up using a name from the list?

Another popular engagement party game is a bit like the newlywed game. This game is played in couples and the "host" runs the game. The couples are all asked a series of questions to which the husband and the wife write down their answers separately. Questions such as, "How much money would you spend without consulting with your husband?" (and to the husband, "How much money would your spouse (or fiancee) spend without consulting with you?") will be asked.

Then, everyone reveals their answers to see how far off (or how on target) each couple actually is. It can be a lot of fun - sometimes, you and your guests will be surprised at how similar the answers will be for certain couples, and how far off others will be. Prepare for lots of laughter, and possibly some awkward silences as well. The couple that wins this engagement party game is the one who has the most similar answers overall, and you may give an honorable mention to the couple who was the most wrong, too!

There are a lot of other games that can be a lot of fun to play at your engagement party. You could go with a more generic feel and simply throw a karaoke party. If you're okay with corny, get a life-sized portrait of the bride and play "pin the engagement ring on the bride", or other funny pin-it-on kind of games.

You've just got to get a flavor for the couple being celebrated, the guests who will be there, and the overall feel you want to have on your party. Good luck and have a great time with your engagement party games!
