Fun Halloween Activities for the Whole Family

Holidays are supposed to help bring families together, to share in some basic fun and entertaining activities, but far too often, we let time get away from us, we keep procrastinating and waiting until 'tomorrow' to get things done, and then before we know it, we are telling our kids or spouses or anybody else to just 'go on and do it without me.'

Do not let that happen this year. There are plenty of fun Halloween activities that you can do with your family, and they do not have to take a great deal of your time to do them, Family therapists even say that it doesn't really matter what you do with your family, as long as you do them together, as a family. Get it?

So what are some fun Halloween activities that you can do as a family? Well, the first one that comes to mind is carving pumpkins.

Carving pumpkins

Carving pumpkins can become a family tradition, if it is not one already. But before you head down to your local supermarket to buy a few pumpkins for carving, stop and wait a minute. Where else can you go to buy your pumpkins? Where else might you be able to find more than just an opportunity to sift through a large bin to get the pumpkins that you want?

There are orchards and pumpkin patches all over the country and around the world. Bringing your entire family to an orchard can be a great fun Halloween activity all on its own. Taking a hayride with the kids is tradition for many families and it can be the same for yours. These hayrides are generally free and take you from the parking lot or near the entrance of the orchard all the way out to where the best pumpkins are found. From there, you get to walk through rows and rows of pumpkins, looking for the perfect one.

Once you get your pumpkins and maybe your apple cider or other fall traditions, you are ready to carve your pumpkins as a family. The last thing you want to concern yourself with is the mess that will be made by carving these pumpkins. Let the pumpkin guts fly and laugh, even when something doesn't quite work out the way you wanted it to. Your kids and family will have so much fun doing this together, as a family, that they will be begging to do it again next year.

Costume making

Yes, it's easy to go to the store and buy a costume, but if you use some imagination, you can make your own costumes this year. When you do this activity together as a family, it will mean that much more when you all get dressed up and share your work with all of your friends and neighbors.

There are so many fun Halloween activities that we tend to do by ourselves, but in the end, doing them with family makes a tradition that you will look back on with fondness for years to come.
