People often think of Chucky, Friday the 13th and other such movies like Jeepers Creepers and the Wolf-man when thinking of Halloween, and although it has traditionally been the darker side of the event, that has been in the spotlight it does not have to be. The Addams family was equally as popular when portraying witches and such.

For a Halloween wedding theme, the bride and groom can be presented as Shrek and Fiona, a freaky Raggedy Ann & Andy, or Mr & Mrs Potato-head from frightville, as well as Mr & Mrs Undead or Frankenstein & his bride. The creepy setting and decorations can remain, with just the colors being varied to something more cheerful than black and orange.

As part of the Halloween wedding theme, try an antique gown as a wedding dress and make up that highlights the eyes or mouth. A dark sash can lend to a dramatic look, as can old jewelry such as a broach or strands of pearls. Instead of the traditional wedding colors, try rich tones of purple, emerald green, orange or black for bridesmaid dresses, and the men's wear can be tails, gloves and top hat.

If orange and black is to remain your Halloween wedding theme colors, try orange day lilies, tinted roses or orange poppy. If it will be used, black or deep red roses can be chosen.

Either way, pumpkins can still be used for the table centerpieces with corresponding flowers set about them, and the color scheme can be carried about the room in the same manner. Small scarecrows can still be used either way, and such props as stars and moon, smaller pumpkins or candles will all be appropriate. The wedding cake should be several pumpkin shaped cakes with jack-o-lantern faces.

Mirrors are appropriate in any wedding setting, including the Halloween wedding theme. If they are placed under a grouping of candles of varying heights, it is remarkable how much light they reflect around a room.

Also, candles of varying heights placed in glass containers such as candy dishes, candle holders and glasses carry the light well, and look especially elegant with a ribbon bow in a coordinating color around the base of each glass container. Wrought-iron style also goes well with the Halloween setting, but does not carry the light as well. The ambience is equally good.

As part of the Halloween wedding theme decorations, cover the top of the tables in black tablecloths that have been decorated with gold sparkled fabric pens or glow in the dark paint. A large cauldron can sit on one of the tables with a device that creates fog, and near it a funky DJ dressed like an appropriate Halloween figure can be set up playing an assortment of music with lots of creepy Halloween stuff thrown in for good measure.

Take wedding photos in front of a velvety curtain for the backdrop, and bring in old furniture and / or large round or oblong wall hangings as accents. Have top hats and gloves available for use in pictures, as well as life props such as spiders and bats.
