Useful ResourcesWhile it is true that there are thousands of greeting cards in stores, some people wish to personalize their greetings. Here are some ways to make homemade Christmas cards so you can make sure your friends and family have a beautiful and unique holiday greeting. One way to make your cards truly unique is to create photo cards. Most computers come standard with greeting card templates in which you can add your own photos, drawings, and messages. The types of photos or drawings included should be as unique as you are. You can also purchase inexpensive photo card makers at stores such as Office Depot or Staples. Pick the template you wish to use and follow the software instructions on how to add photos and messages. For individuals who wish to be even more creative, you can make homemade Christmas cards using card stock paper, stencils, stamps and other embellishments. You can find stickers, embellishments, beads, sequins and a host of other items to include on your card in the scrapbooking section of most craft stores. One fun homemade Christmas card is the Santa's face card. For this, you will need: red cardstock paper, flesh colored cardstock paper, one large white artificial flower (one with lots of small petals), 2 black brads, white pearl fabric paint, pink chalk, double sided tape, pencil, white or silver glitter, scissors, glue gun and glue. Cut the flesh colored cardstock in the shape of a face (make sure there is enough room at the top for the hat and the bottom for the beard - you will want to make your face cutout a large oval). Using the red cardstock, cut a nose shape for the face (make sure your nose is proportional to the face size). Using red cardstock paper also, cut out the outline for the hat, the hat brim and a pompom for the hat tip. Remove the stem and green leaves from your flower and fold the large flower. Using your glue gun, attach the flower to the bottom of your face piece to make Santa's beard. Place the nose directly above the beard and use brads to make Santa's eyes. You can use two petals from your flower to make eyebrows for your Santa. Give the Santa's cheeks a glow with the pink chalk. Glue the hat to the top of the Santa's head and put double sided tape to the base of the hat. Attach the brim of the hat to the double sided tape. Fold the top of the hat toward the brim and attach using the hot glue gun. Attach the pompom using the double sided tape. The pompom should be attached where the folded top of the hat meets the brim. Using your paint, create swirls or patterns on the Santa hat and pompom and sprinkle with white or silver glitter. Allow to dry completely. You can write your message on the back of your Santa homemade Christmas card. When crafting your Christmas greetings, use your imagination. Your cards should be as unique and creative as you are. There are many homemade Christmas cards you can create to give your loved ones a special Christmas.
