Treat a Day Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons instant granule yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh, diced parsley
  • 2 tablespoons crushed garlic
  • 1 1/2 cups chicken extract
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 medium sized egg
  • 5 to 6 cups whole wheat flour

    Steps

  • Stir the yeast into the warm water using a large bowl and wooden spoon.
  • Add the parsley, garlic, broth, honey, and egg. Slowly stir in the flour, until the mixture is of a firm consistency and resembles a stiff dough.
  • Knead the mixture until smooth and then roll the dough out with a rolling pin.
  • Cut shapes out of the dough using cookie cutters and place on greased baking sheets, making sure to leave space for the cookies to rise.
  • Bake the cookies for approximately 30 minutes and then a further 15 minutes after turning them over.
  • Allow to cool and leave in the off oven overnight to get crispy.

    Puppy Twirls

    Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon lightly packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant active dry yeast
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 3 tablespoons soy flour, low fat
  • 1/4 cup nonfat dry milk
  • 1 tablespoon dried liver powder
  • 1 tablespoon bone meal flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 medium sized egg which is beaten
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil
  • 3 tablespoons wheat germ

    Steps

  • Mix together yeast and sugar in warm water. Mix dry ingredients together well.
  • Add half of the beaten egg, oil and yeast-water mixture. Mix well until a stiff dough is formed.
  • Knead the dough until well mixed and aerated, then allow to rise in an oiled bowl.
  • Shape the dough into interesting shapes and bake on baking trays at 375 degrees F until golden brown.
  • Brush remaining beaten egg on top with some wheat germ to add to the taste before baking this homemade dog biscuit recipe.

    Dog Biscuits with Peanut Butter

    Ingredients

  • 175 ml water (add more water later if required)
  • 175 ml oil
  • 2 medium sized eggs
  • 3 tablespoons peanut butter
  • 10 ml vanilla
  • 500 grams flour
  • 175 grams cornmeal
  • 175 grams oats

    Steps

  • Mix wet ingredients together well.
  • Stir in the dry ingredients into the wet mixture to form a ball of dough.
  • Roll out and shape and place on a greased baking pan.
  • Bake at 400 degress F for approximately 20 minutes.
  • Allow the biscuits to cool in the oven after turning it off so that they can turn crisp.
  • Store in airtight container.

    You can replace the normal water in these recipes with water that is drained off from any cooked meat products to enhance the vitamin and mineral content in the biscuits.
