Kids' Homemade Christmas Decorations - Simple Handmade Crafts for the ChildrenDo you need some ideas for kids' homemade Christmas decorations? Whether you work with kids, or you have kids, you know how exciting the holiday season can be for children. Their eyes start to sparkle, they get dreams in their heads, and little ones become so excited that it's hard for them to focus on their daily lives. That's why you should give them something fun to do and show them how to make some homemade Christmas decorations for them to share with everyone. Here are some great ideas and tips for kids' homemade Christmas decorations.
Dress up old decorations You can give your kids a little chance to make magic on their own by providing them with old decorations and new things to dress them up with. Give your kids ribbons, flowers, glitter and some glue and you'll find that your Christmas tree ornaments are fresh, new and ready for the tree. Find creative new ways to use them, too, like making candle holders by gluing round ornaments to a wreath frame. Use a large pillar candle in white or any color that complements your decorations and your kids can be proud of your new centerpiece.
Make a candy cane vase Kids can get really distracted, but you can help them to pass the time with a fun to make Christmas decoration that won't take long and isn't hard. For this kids' homemade Christmas decoration idea, you'll need a coffee can, enough candy canes to go around the can (about 40), a strong rubber band and ribbon. You might also want to have some evergreen trimmings and even fake berries for the "bouquet". Put the thick rubber band around the coffee can, about half way up. Start putting the candy canes into the rubber band. Insert them until no part of the can is visible. Tie the ribbon around the rubber band to hide it. Add the evergreen clippings and berries and all the kids who do this craft will be thrilled to contribute to the decorations in their homes.
Christmas Dinner Place Markers are just the right Project If you tend to have a big Christmas dinner, then you and your children will love this project. For this kids' homemade Christmas decoration craft, you'll need cone shaped cups, un-waxed. You'll also need paint, glue, glitter and decorations such as press on sequins and plastic gems and gold and white paper. Let your kids paint the cups and let them dry on newspaper. Once the cups are dry, use the glitter to make garland designs, and use small dots of glue to add the "ornaments" to the Christmas trees. In the mean time, cut stars out of the gold and white paper. Make sure the white stars are smaller than the gold and glue them together. Write the names of your guests on the stars. Once the decorations of the tree are dry, glue the stars on and set them out before dinner. There you have it - beautiful kids' homemade Christmas decorations!
Consider Gifts Some of the best Christmas crafts for kids include those that are made as gifts. From quilts for grandparents, to aprons and even glazed tiles, your children can work with you to make some fabulous kids' homemade Christmas decorations that are also gifts. One of the favorite ways to incorporate your kids in the craft and gift making process is to use fabric paints and acrylic paint to have your children each decorate a few large quilt squares and hand prints on some others. You sew them together and grandparents love it. Even better, when you buy the fabric on sale, you're going to have a wonderful gift that didn't cost you much money at all. Kids want to get involved in the holiday season, too, and there is no better way to keep them busy and excited about the season than having them make decorations as gifts and for your home. We hope you and your children have fun with the above ideas for kids' homemade Christmas decorations!
