Original Halloween Costumes - Creative Costume Ideas for EveryoneDo you need some ideas and inspiration for original Halloween costumes? When people think of Halloween, one of the first things that come to mind is costumes. Dressing up for Halloween is not just for children - individuals of all ages use this day as an excuse to become their favorite characters (whether it be from books, movies or television). Everyone wants to stand out - so they are always in search of various original Halloween costumes in which to achieve this. Halloween costumes come in all shapes and sizes. Costumes can be for individuals, couples or groups. There are many original Halloween costumes you can choose from. Here are some examples of original costumes. For infants and toddlers, you can't go wrong if you purchase a costume of your child's favorite character; however, if you are looking for something more original, you may want to create your child's costume. One easy to create, original costume for your infant or toddler is a chicken costume. You will need yellow tights, one long feather boa, and a red hat with a peak in the top. Dress your baby in the yellow tights and a long sleeved shirt (yellow or white works best). Simply use the feather boa to wrap your baby's torso and place the red cap on your child's head. You can use safety pins to secure the boa to the child's shirt and to other sections of the boa to make sure it stays in place. If you have twins, an original Halloween costume to consider is "salt and pepper." This is a cute, easy costume that you can dress your infant or toddler twins in. For this, you will need one black long sleeved infant body suit, one white long sleeved infant body suit, and colored fabric paint. Take the fabric paint and write "S" on the white long sleeved infant body suit and "P" on the black one. Dress each child as either salt or pepper. If you have triplets, you can add another "spice" to the mix by choosing a long sleeved infant body suit in the color of the spice you choose. For older children and teens, you will want to get a costume that is not only original, but reflects your child's personality. Tween girls (those between the ages of 8 and 12) often like to dress up like their favorite characters. One original Halloween costume idea for your tween girl is to dress her like Alice from "Alice in Wonderland." This is a simple costume that consists of a light blue tea-length dress, a white apron, white tights and black shoes. You can also add one or two white petticoats under the dress. This is not only a costume that will make your tween smile, the dress can be worn at other times too (also making this costume functional). Adults also can express their creativity when purchasing or designing original Halloween costumes. Again, when picking the right costume, you want to take into account personality and what you wish to convey. An example of an easy costume for an adult would be dressing as Paul Bunyan. For this costume, you will need khaki pants, a red and black flannel shirt, and a black toboggan. For the axe, take a long wrapping paper roll and paint it black. Next, cut out the shape of an axe head out of two pieces of cardboard and paint one side red with a silver lining. Attach the pieces back to back (with the painted side out) over the wrapping paper tube and, using a glue gun, fasten the sides of the ax together and to the handle. No matter how you decide to dress this Halloween, there are hundreds of original Halloween costumes to choose from. Remember when choosing your costume to keep safety in mind. Make sure that there are some reflective materials on your costume so you can be seen after dark.
