Valentine's Day Coloring Book If you have younger children, you can help them create their own Valentine's Day coloring book. Surf the internet to find a number of pictures or clip art of Valentine's symbols. Load these into a program such as Word or PowerPoint. Format the pictures to black and white "outline" pictures and print these out on cardstock paper. You can then use a three-hole punch to put the pages in a binder, or you can bind the pages together using red, white or pink yarn.
Bottle Cap Necklace Making a bottle cap necklace is another of the great Valentine crafts for kids. For this, you will need the following: two metal bottle caps, 1 piece of 1/2 inch ribbon (approximately 6 to 8 inches in length), 1 paper circle that will fit inside one of the bottle caps, red stamp pad, white flat spray paint, clear spray varnish, a photo small enough to fit inside the bottle cap, one yard of 1/16 inch ribbon, beads, and a glue gun. For such Valentine crafts for kids, first spray the outside of the bottle caps white and let dry completely. Using the red stamp pad, place two finger prints on each bottle cap, creating a heart shape. Take your 1/2 inch ribbon and tie into a knot. Using a glue gun, glue one end of the ribbon into one bottle cap and the other end into the other bottle cap. Make sure when you glue the ribbon, the caps fit together like a clam shell with a loop at the top (this will be used to attach your longer ribbon which will form your necklace). Glue the photo into one side of the locket. Write a message on the tiny piece of paper and glue it into the other side. Thread the thin ribbon through the loop at the top of the locket and then add beads to either side of the locket. Tie the ends of the thin ribbon into a knot.
Candy Filled Hearts Candy filled hearts are also great Valentine crafts for kids. For this, you will need red, white or pink construction paper, scissors, glue, paper lace and individually wrapped candy. Instructions for these Valentine crafts for kids - first cut two large hearts (make sure they are the same size) and smaller hearts of various sizes. Glue the various sized hearts to your larger hearts. Next, cut your paper lace into a heart shape to create a border around one of your large hearts. Apply a thin line of glue around the edge of the large plain heart about 2/3 of the way up the sides toward the top (making sure you leave the top part of your heart glue-free). Place the heart with the lace border facing out on top and allow the glue to dry completely. This will form a pocket in which you can place the individually wrapped candies. You can also write a personalized message on the front of the candy package.
Lollipop Flowers Lollipop flowers are other wonderful Valentine crafts for kids. For this, you will need the following: flat lollipops (round lollipops such as dum-dums or Tootsie pops will not work for this craft), red and green construction paper, scissors and glue. Cut a number of red hearts out of your construction paper. Glue the lollipops to the center of the hearts to form the center of your flowers. Next cut leaves out of your green construction paper and glue them to the stems of the lollipops.
Conclusion These are just a few Valentine crafts for kids that you can do with your children. Help your children tap into their creativity while creating wonderfully unique Valentines for them to keep or to share. Have lots of fun and quality bonding time!
