It is the reason we spend so much time perfecting the task - collecting the right paper, ribbon, bow and card. And don't forget the scissors and tape. You'll need it all for the perfect allure. When it comes to wrapped Christmas presents, paper choice is almost as important as the gift. It can name the occasion or reflect a favorite color or design, such as logo (Starbucks, John Deer, Winnie the Pooh, Hannah Montana) or theme (Christmas trees, Santa or snowmen). If you are not sure about your gift recipient, choose tried and true favorites, such as brightly colored papers that sparkle or shimmer in metallic hues. The container is another important part of the hold a wrapped Christmas present has on us. It might be easy to guess the contents or the gift, if it is wrapped as is. Taking the time to find a different container may require some effort, but the rewards always out-weigh it. Think iPod, no larger than a cell phone, in a shoebox, or a favorite CD in a small sized cylinder container. Finding a box also ensures that the wrap will have a better chance of coming out smooth and professional looking. It will make it easier to work with and will conserve the product. Choose good quality products also - good paper and tape that goes on clear, so that unsightly blotches do not mar the effect you are striving for with your wrapped Christmas present. When wrapping a gift, once the package is secure, measure its size for a proper paper fit on all sides. Remember, that includes the long and short sides of the package, as well as the front and back. Carefully cut the paper, being sure to leave about an inch leeway so that you will be able to fold the outermost edge over to create a smooth finish. Fold paper over the package with the folded edge exposed and secure with small pieces of tape - at least two, but more if the box is large. Keep all folds and creases crisp and tight. The finished look of your wrapped Christmas presents will be well worth it. This is especially true as the short sides come into play. Fold the top paper down and each side in toward each other, being sure all creases are even and laying perfectly flat. All taped edges should be pointing down when finished with the top of the package smooth and without flaw. Apply your ribbon of choice - either all around the box, or just in short pieces adorning the top of the wrapped gift. Add a bow of the same color or one that contrasts the paper and / or ribbon color. Other embellishments can be added to your wrapped Christmas present at this time as well.
